How do I setup my new mailbox in Outlook?
We make use of ‘autodiscover’ technology, so that in the majority of cases, Microsoft Outlook can set up your account for you with only an email address and a password.
Automatic Setup
- In Outlook, choose the File tab
- Under ‘Account Settings’, choose Add Account
- On the Auto Account Setup page, enter your name, email address, and password, and then choose Next
- Choose Finish
Manual Setup
If automatic setup failed, you can choose Manual setup or additional server types to enter your settings manually. Use these settings:
Account type: IMAP
Incoming mail server: imap.stackmail.com
Outgoing mail server: smtp.stackmail.com
Incoming server port (IMAP): 993
Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL
Outgoing server port (SMTP): 587
Use the following type of encrypted connection: TLS
When setting up your account, please choose More Settings > Outgoing Server and check the box for ‘My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication’.
Upgrading an existing mailbox in Outlook
If you have your old mailbox already setup in outlook you just need to change your incoming and outgoing host settings along with your new password.
Make sure your outlook is closed and then follow these steps.
Step One
If you open up Control Panel, an easy way to find this is to click on the search bar at the bottom and type in Control Panel.
Step Two
Once opened, click on the mail icon. If you don’t see the mail icon on the top right of the page you will see View by: category, click on this and change to Large icons.
Step Three
A dialog box will open up and click on Email Accounts. Another window will open up with a list of your current email accounts in Outlook. Double click on the account you are looking to change.
Step Four
In your change account settings look for Incoming mail server and Outgoing mail server. Currently they are both pointing to the following: mail.yourdomainname.com if you can change to the following:
Incoming mail server: imap.stackmail.com
Outgoing mail server: smtp.stackmail.com
Then click next to save the changes.
