Every village has stories, memories and the people who have shaped it. I’m excited to share I’ve recently redesigned the Portknockie Website and it’s packed full of everything which makes this village special. From its fishing history to its stunning coastal walks and local gems.
You’ll find a brand new section featuring all the Past K’nockers and podcasts, things to do in and around the area and a dive into the heritage.
We’ve also launched a new Share a Memory section and would love for you to get involved!
Maybe you remember the buzz of the herring boats, the hardworking fishermen braving the seas, or the gutting quines whose nimble fingers kept the industry alive. Perhaps you went to school in the village, worked in one of the old shops, or have fond memories of growing up along the coast. Maybe you even have an item tucked away at home – a keepsake from Portknockie’s fishing past, or a story about one of the great characters who made the village what it is.
Every memory matters. Every story paints a bigger richer picture of Portknockie’s heritage. And by collecting them, we can make sure these incredible moments are never lost. If you’ve got a story, a photo or an object you’d like to share, head over to the website – we’d be honoured to feature it.
Of course the website isn’t just about looking back. It’s about supporting Portknockie of today too. If you run a local business or have a holiday home in the village, you can now advertise directly on the site. It’s a great way to connect with visitors and locals looking for places to stay, eat, shop, and explore.
And if you’re looking for a unique little piece of Portknockie to take home, we’re proud to showcase the Bow Fiddle Rock keyrings, handmade by local joiner John Liley. These beautifully crafted keyrings capture one of Portknockie’s most iconic sights the Bow Fiddle Rock and make a perfect memento or gift. You’ll find details on how to get yours on the site too.
So whether you’re reminiscing about the old days, planning your next visit or looking to support local businesses, the new Portknockie Website is here to bring the community together.
Web design starts with a coffee and a chat… and building this site has been no different. It’s been a joy bringing these memories, businesses and stories into one place where they can be shared for years to come.
