Many of us have or at one point registered for a Hotmail account with Microsoft but did you know by registering for an account you automatically get 25GB of free storage?
This free (cloud) storage is for photos, documents, videos, music… you name it. The beauty about SkyDrive is that you can access the important files you need from virtually anywhere by using a computer, tablet or even your mobile phone.
I have found that there are two ways you can use SkyDrive. The first way is to treat it like a personal password-protected hard drive where you can put all your important documents and files. This is really good if you use multiple computers like I do or if you’re traveling as you won’t need to carry pen sticks.
The second way to use SkyDrive is for sharing. This can be documents, videos or photos; you always have full control of which files are shared and which ones aren’t. With the permissions you can also determine whether the people you’re sharing files with can edit or just view it.
If like me and you use multiple PC’s you can use Windows Live Mesh (add on for SkyDrive) to keep files synchronised between your computers. I have a folder setup on my computer named SkyDrive and the same on another PC. With Live Mesh running in the background anything I put into that folder will automatically be sync’d to SkyDrive as well as my other PC. Brilliant way of keeping documents, photos and other files up to date. You can also download SkyDrive cloud service app for Windows Phone and the iPhone
